MY ROLE

UX Designer

THE PROJECT

Design consistency initiative.

THE RESULT

Design system forms basis of live application

Background

Cisco DNA Center is an incredible tool to visually provision and configure network devices. The original design took place over the course of a year, with different components being added concurrently. What resulted was an inconsistent design, with a variety of different designs for the same components. For example: table formatting would appear differently depending on the section of the website.

My team was brought in to create a unified, consistent design for the website.

My Role

I partnered with an Associate Creative Director and Program Manager to complete the project. While “formally” my responsibility was for the UX, my work spanned UX, visual design, and project management as we took an “all hands on deck” approach.

Our Approach

Our work began with an audit of the current design of Cisco DNA Center, which required a page-by-page examination of every element.

Audit Snapshot

The amount of disparate elements called for a unified strategy. We settled on a variant of Brad Frost’s Atomic Design framework, by identifying major components and coming up with a standard design for each..
